Earlier this year, the senior class met their kindergarten buddies for the first time, playing on the playground and later participating in the annual First Friday celebration in Najafi Gym. I asked the kindergarteners to answer a few questions about their buddies; here’s what the class of 2038 had to say:

1. How did you feel when you first met your buddy? 

“I felt happy to meet my senior buddies.” – Aria 

“I felt nervous at first, but then I felt happy. I love how they help me on the monkey bars.” – Padma

“I was so excited, and they are very nice.” – Bennett

“I was a little nervous at first, but then I felt good.” – Charlie

2. What’s the best thing about having a senior buddy?

“The best thing about having a senior buddy is playing together.” – Rovin 

“The best part of having a senior buddy is playing together.” – Dean

“They are big and we can play together.” – Malina

“I like playing with them.” – Foster

“They always catch a frisbee when I throw it to them.” – Liya

3. What do you like most about your buddy?

“I like that my buddies ask me a lot of questions. I like asking them questions too!” – Ellie

“They are fun!” – Alex

“They are playful.” – Blair

4. What’s something special your buddy has or can do?

“My buddies love to play with me.” – Quinn 

“They can throw a ball far!” – Axel

“I like that they talk to me.” – Nico

5. If you could describe your buddy in one word, what would it be?

“Kind of crazy–in a fun way.” – Roman

“My buddies know about Pokémon.”- Hudson

7. Do you feel like your buddy is a new friend? Why?

“My buddies are my friends. They are really sweet.” – Dylan

8. When you’re a senior, would you want to be a buddy too? Why?

“I think it would be cool to be a big buddy.” – Smith

“Yes, I want to be a senior buddy when I am older. It is fun.” – Sofia

9. What do you want to show/do with your buddy?

“I would like to see where they go to school in high school.” – Jackson

“Slide down the hills on our playground.” – Jennings

“Playing sports with them would be fun.” – Aurora

“I want to do fun things like art.” – Elle

10. What makes your buddy the best buddy ever?

“My buddies want to play football all the time with me.” – Maverick
