Collage of what PCDS students are thankful for
As Thanksgiving break approaches and finals loom in the distance, PCDS students took a moment to share what they are thankful for. From grandparents to friends to even rappers, it’s clear that there’s no shortage of gratitude on campus.
One theme stood out among the rest: family. Across grade levels, students overwhelmingly expressed appreciation for those closest to them.
Junior Kailer Smith expressed his deep appreciation for his parents, saying, “I’m thankful for my parents for giving me every opportunity to succeed…I’m very thankful for how they’ve shaped me into the guy I am today.”
Similarly, senior Sophia Bosch shared, “I am thankful for my family. I appreciate everything that they do for me and all the sacrifices that they’ve made.”
For some students, distance only strengthens their appreciation. “I am very thankful for my grandpa and grandma. I get to call them every week because they live in Michigan, and they’re like my best friends,” junior Olivia Singer shared.
Others expressed appreciation for siblings who help guide them. Junior Jayla Knapp said, “I am thankful for my close relationship with my sister because I think having a sibling, especially an older one, helps you get through life.”
Of course, PCDS students are thankful for plenty beyond their family as well. Junior Kavin Mutyala said he’s thankful for “[his] parents, [his] dogs, and Playboy Carti,” while junior Oliver Roach proudly shared, “I am thankful for my new truck…the biggest truck in school… a custom lifted Ram 1500 Big Horn.” For Singer, gratitude is also about daily necessities: “I am thankful to have food on the table every day because I need to make sure my body is well fed and energized for when I go to swim practice.”
From heartfelt reflections to comical retorts, PCDS students show that gratitude, big and small, has a strong presence on campus this Thanksgiving season.
